The Role of Foreign Subsidies in the EU Internal Market

There are possible advantages for businesses receiving government funding that can provide them support both domestically as well as internationally. EU law aims to limit the occurrence of state aid unless funding is justified by reasons of general economic development or below the threshold of the De minimis rule. Non-EU states do not have such limitations and can therefore grant EU businesses a competitive edge contrary to the objective of the EU single market. In this webcast we’ll look at how this plays out in practice, what the EU is doing about it, and what it could possibly mean for your business as a recipient of domestic vs foreign subsidies.
